The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is a Muslim group. Their avowed goal is to establish an independent Islamic state. Though initially armed and supported by the Libyan and Malaysian governments, by the early 1990s, the MILF had lost much of its state support. The MILF is the vanguard of the Islamic movement in the Bangsamoro homeland in Mindanao and the neighbouring islands. The MILF was formed in 1977 when Hashim Salamat, supported by ethnic Maguindanaos from Mindanao, split from the Moro National Liberation Front, advocating a more moderate and conciliatory approach toward the government. There are approximately 4.5 million Muslims in the Philippines and most of the muslims live in this area. In 1987, the MILF signed an agreement relinquishing its goal of independence for Muslims region and accept the government offer of autonomy.So,its main objective is to achieve independence of muslims
