Kaka hoping to play at Olympics
02.12.08 (1:54 am)   [edit]

AC Milan's world player of the year Kaka said Thursday he hopes to represent Brazil at the Olympic Games in Beijing in August.

Kaka has won almost every club and individual honour there is in football except one title, that of Olympic champion.

Indeed, it is the only title Brazil have yet to win despite being crowned world champions a record five times.

"I would like to (play) but I will leave it up to the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) and Milan to decide," he said.

Kaka is currently injured having hurt his knee in the crucial 1-0 victory at Fiorentina on Sunday.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has already ruled him out of this weekend's trip to Siena but Kaka said he could miss more than just that one match.

"I hope to come back as quickly as possible but I don't yet know how much time I need to recover.

"Today I feel better, it's sure I won't be fit for Sunday and I don't think so for Wednesday (against Livrono) either. We'll see how I am."

The same knee has given Kaka problems for the last couple of years.
